Vol. 355 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tonsilectomy Operation.

401.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the long waiting periods for persons awaiting operations in the Mater Hospital, for example the person (details supplied) in Dublin 3 who is waiting one year for a tonsilectomy; and if anything can be done to improve this situation.

I am aware of the length of the waiting period for tonsilectomy operations in the Mater Hospital. However, the waiting list is reviewed weekly and urgent cases are given priority. If the person referred to in the Deputy's question feels that the case should be reviewed, the person's general practitioner should be consulted in the first instance.
