Vol. 355 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Road Safety.

417.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department will sanction the provision of an automatic, flashing, dynamic reduce speed sign on the Cahir side of Cashel, County Tipperary, when the other essential safety precautions are being introduced there as the provision of this speed sign would be essential.

The provision of traffic warning signs is a matter for the road authority concerned acting at the request of, or with the consent of, the Garda Commissioner.

Recently, I made a commitment of £15,000 to enable Tipperary (South Riding) County Council to carry out safety measures on the Cahir Road, Cashel. Detailed proposals have not yet been submitted by the council to my Department. When these proposals are received in the Department, they will be considered as a matter of urgency.
