Vol. 356 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

502.

asked the Minister for Agriculture how the level of grant aid for farm development which was paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny was computed; how the costings were arrived at; if any of the work provided for in the development plan was not grant aided; and if he will make a statement on this case.

Grant aid of £2,231 (less £40 in respect of two farm visits) was paid in November 1984 in respect of a milking parlour, dairy, grain loft, concrete wall, calf house, slurry tank extension, assembly and exercise yards. The cost of the works (£8,924) was calculated in accordance with the standard national costings used by the farm development service. The rate of grant was 25 per cent which is the rate appropriate to a development farmer under the revised farm modernisation scheme effective from 3 January 1984.

Grants amounting to £4,440 were also paid in earlier years for drainage work, water installation, silage base, concrete apron, slurry tank and cubicle house.

Items included on the farm plan which have not been grant aided are: (a) bulk tank, tractor and some land reclamation in respect of which application was not made to the farm development service and (b) milking machine, feeders and concrete yards for which application was made but which are not eligible for aid under the revised scheme.

503.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in the payment of a headage grant which is overdue to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and when the grants due will be paid.

The person named will be paid his cattle headage grant and calf premium when the batches which include his payment are processed in due course. These payments are being made with many others and there is no particular delay in the case.
