asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction the proposed development at the Patrician academy, Mallow, County Cork; if she is aware that they will have to limit the overall number of students taken in this year as the school does not have adequate accommodation; and the reason she has failed to communicate and acknowledge letters and documentation received from the manager of the academy.

It is proposed to develop the Patrician academy, Mallow, to provide 475 places overall. New proposals and documentation received in October and November 1984 from Br. Simeon, the school manager, have been under examination in my Department. This examination culminated in Br. Simeon being invited to meet with officers of my Department to discuss the proposed development. This meeting was held on Monday, 4 March 1985. Br. Simeon expressed satisfaction at the discussion.

In the last quarter of 1984 my Department approved of the school's request for the provision of four prefab classrooms and a toilet block to cater for increased enrolment in the school year 1984-85.

asked the Minister for Education when she will sanction stage 4 of the proposed extension to St. Mary's secondary school, Mallow, County Cork; and if she is aware of the very serious situation facing this post-primary school due to increased numbers.

The planning of an extension to the Convent of Mercy, Mallow, County Cork, has progressed to stage 4. The examination of documentation relating to this stage is nearing completion. When the examination is completed and the documentation found to be in order the school manager will be advised regarding the preparation of stage 5 of planning i.e. bill of quantities.
