Vol. 359 No. 10

Written Answers. - Report of Oireachtas Joint Committee on Small Businesses.

17.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the action he plans to take on the report of the Oireachtas Joint Com-mitte on Small Business — Tourism. Catering and Leisure; which of its recommendations, if any, he plans to implement; and if he agrees that, given the job creating activities inherent in tourism activities, it is essential that we exploit our very considerable advantages in this sector.

I am considering this report and its recommendations. At this stage I am not in a position to indicate which, if any, of the recommendations, of the report will be implemented. I will, of course, have regard to the recommendations in the report in the exercise of my functions on tourism. I can also assure the Deputy that the job creation potential of tourism is fully recognised by the Government and is very much taken into account in developing policy in relation to tourism.
