Vol. 361 No. 2

Written Answers. - Laois Estate.

83.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the present position in regard to the division of the Shirley estate at Mountrath, County Laois; if he received an application from the Slieve Bloom GAA for a division of the Shirley estate; if so, how this application is being processed; and when he will be in a position to state whether or not these lands will be allocated.

Every effort is being made to have the balance of 21 hectares of this estate disposed of as soon as possible but I am not yet in a position to indicate when this can be done. The programme is likely to be affected by the recent transfer of a number of staff to the office of the commissioner for farm tax. An application for land has been received from the Slieve Bloom GAA Club and will be considered when plans for the disposal of the estate are being formulated.
