asked the Minister for Education if she will outline details of plans to replace or reconstruct schools in south-west Donegal; and if she will give details of works being carried out at present.

The position in relation to primary school building projects in south-west Donegal is given in the form of a tabular statement which will be circulated in the Official Report.

On the post-primary side, the position is that my Department recently gave approval to the vocational education committee for the acceptance of tenders for a new vocational school at Killbegs and for an extension to Killybegs hotel school. Tenders have been received by the committee for a major extension to Carrick vocational school and the preliminary report on the tenders is being considered by my Department. An extension to Gweedore community school is at an advanced stage of planning.

The provision of a new vocational school for Arranmore Island has been approved in principle. The question of how best to develop post-primary school facilities in Ballyshannon-Burdoran and Stranorlar is under active review at present.

(II) Extensions

Killbegs (Niall Mór)

Laghey

Cashel

Keadue

Contracts have been placed for the projects at Barnesmore, Kilclooney, Cashel and Creevy. Ballydevitte is at tender action stage and Carrick, Keadue, Killbegs and Laghey are at the detail design stage. The remaining projects are at the sketch scheme stage.
