Vol. 362 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Galway School.

77.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for changing the decision to proceed with the construction of an extension to Lettermore national school, County Galway.

78.

asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on improvement to Lettermore national school, County Galway, and if she will give details of the improvement works to be carried out.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 77 and 78 together.

My Department has accepted in principle an application for grant aid from the school authorities of Lettermore national school, County Galway, in respect of necessary improvements to their school/premises. These include improvements to toilets, roof and floors, playspace and entrance. My Department has asked its architectural advisers to examine the matter in detail from the feasibility and costs aspect and will communicate further with the school authorities in the light of their recommendations. It is not possible at this stage to say when works may be carried out. The original proposal to extend the school is not being pursued because of the decrease in the level of attendances at the school.
