Vol. 362 No. 14

Written Answers. - Deductions from Teachers' Salaries.

114.

asked the Minister for Education if it is possible to programme the wages computer to deduct certain allowances from teachers' salaries in certain schools, areas or counties with their consent.

I understand that the Deputy is referring to deductions for charity. It would be technically feasible to provide a facility whereby either a fixed amount or a fixed percentage rate of salary could be deducted from individual teachers salaries and paid into a single fund. My Department would have to be satisfied, however, that there was sufficient demand for such a facility from teachers generally.
