Vol. 363 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Síochána Recruitment.

182.

asked the Minister for Justice the present position regarding applicants awaiting entry into the Garda Síochána since 1983 who were interviewed in their local Garda station; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): Applications for entry to the force which have been received since the closing date for receipt of applications for the last competition in 1983 are held by the Garda authorities and, provided the candidates meet the entry requirements, they will be considered in the context of the new recruitment competition.

As I indicated in reply to parliamentary questions on 27 November and 19 December 1985, I hope to be in a position fairly soon to announce details of the next recruitment competition.

Question No. 183 withdrawn.
