Vol. 364 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Committee on Health Inspectors.

101.

asked the Minister for Health when the departmental committee on the functions of health inspectors was set up; if it has yet reported; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The committee on the role of the health inspector in the environmental health area was set up jointly by the Ministers for Health and for the Environment in September 1979. Difficulties which arose in the preparation of an agreed report could not be resolved and the committee has adjourned indefinitely.

I feel that the issues on which there is an impasse might now best be resolved in an industrial relations forum and my Department has agreed to a request by the Local Government and Public Services Union that it be represented at a meeting of all parties under the auspices of the Local Government Staff Negotiations Board.
