In the case of a house built otherwise than by contract the £2,000 grant is payable only where the house was not substantially completed by 1 May 1985. In this case, my Department's inspector certified that a £1,000 grant should be paid and payment was made accordingly on 7 November 1985. Further consideration will be given to this application on receipt from the applicant of documentary evidence, which has been sought in support of this claim for the higher rate of grant.
