Vol. 364 No. 9

Written Answers. - Wexford Industrial Development.

24.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce in view of the NESC report and recommendations on designation (No. 81 of 1985) and in view of the fact that the economic problems in County Wexford are clearly greater than the national average, he will immediately designate County Wexford for the purpose of industrial policy.

Limerick East): The question of designation of areas for the purpose of industrial policy is one which is currently undergoing a general review in my Department arising from the NESC report and the subsequent study carried out by the ESRI on the implications of the NESC recommendations. It is not the intention to designate any further areas before the results of the current review become available and the matter is considered by the Government.
