Vol. 364 No. 11

Written Answers. - Open Space Development.

40.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of capital cost grant assistance for open space developments in new local authority housing schemes in the corporation areas of Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Cork in 1983, 1984 and 1985.

Capital grants are not made available to local authorities for open space development in their housing schemes.

Local authority housing schemes are fully financed by the State by way of loans and subsidy on loan charges. Within such schemes an area of 10 per cent is normally considered appropriate for open space, the provision of which is financed as part of the housing scheme. Statistics of amounts spent on open space provision, as distinct from expenditure on housing schemes, are not kept in my Department.
