Vol. 365 No. 3

Written Answers. - Transfer of Prisoner.

27.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make representations to the British authorities to have a prisoner (details supplied) in the Isle of Wight transferred to a prison more readily accessible to his family who have to travel from Dublin.

It has been the practice of the Embassy in London to approach the British authorities on a case by case basis about the location of prisoners when they become aware of difficulties being experienced with visits by relatives and friends of the prisoner. In the present instance the Embassy has been in correspondence with the prisoner and members of his family for some time and specific matters relating to the conditions of his imprisonment including his desire to be transferred from Albany prison have been raised with the British authorities.
