asked the Minister for Social Welfare if she will expedite restoration of unemployment assistance to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

Following a review, the unemployment assistance claim of the person concerned was disallowed on the grounds that, by failing to furnish details of his means, he failed to show that his means did not exceed the statutory limit.

He appealed against the disallowance and his case was submitted to an appeals officer for determination. The appeals officer has decided to hold an oral hearing of the case and the person concerned will be notified of the date and venue for the hearing as soon as the arrangements are finalised.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when an appeal submitted by a person (details supplied) in County Cork against the decision to discontinue his disability benefit will be heard.

The person concerned was paid disability benefit to 13 July 1985 after which date payment was disallowed following an examination by a medical referee who expressed the opinion that he was capable of work. He appealed against the disallowance of benefit and was examined by a different medical referee who also expressed the opinion that he was capable of work.

His appeal has been referred to an appeals officer who proposes to hold an oral hearing of his claim in the near future. He will be informed of the venue and time of this hearing when arrangements have been completed.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in County Waterford has been refused unemployment assistance.

The unemployment assistance claim of the person concerned was disallowed on the grounds that his means, derived mainly from the value of board and lodgings on his father's holding, exceeded the maximum rate payable in his case. He appealed against the disallowance on 3 April 1986 and arrangements are being made to submit his case to an appeals officer for determination, at the earliest available opportunity.

The person concerned will be informed of the outcome of his appeal and of the decision on his entitlement to unemployment assistance as quickly as possible.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in County Waterford has not been approved for unemployment assistance.

Entitlement to unemployment assistance is dependent on a claimant being the holder of a qualification certificate and to obtain a qualification certificate a person must satisfy certain conditions including an assessment of means.

When the person claimed unemployment assistance, his papers were referred to a social welfare officer for investigation of means. When the Officer's inquiries, are completed, the person's entitlement to unemployment assistance will be determined in the light of the means assessed against him.
