Vol. 366 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Kildare School.

194.

asked the Minister for Education the current position in regard to the provision of an extension and facilities at a school (details supplied) in County Kildare; the places and facilities that are being provided; the remaining planning and development stages that are in the process, and still to be overcome prior to going to contract; and the likely time factor in relation to these remaining stages.

The current position regarding this project is that the examination of the bills of quantities has very recently been finalised. Architectural planning was based on an enrolment of 350 pupils. The facilities being provided for in those plans are as follows, nine general classrooms, one mechanical drawing room, one science laboratory, one junior metalwork room, one library, general purposes/PE area, ancillary accommodation.

The remaining stages of planning prior to commencement of construction would be the invitation of, and report on, tenders. In the normal way the period that would elapse between the release of a project to tender and the signing of a contract would be in the region of three months.
