Vol. 367 No. 6

Written Answers. - Blanchardstown (Dublin) Industry.

14.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the amount of the £5.4 million paid by the IDA to Mostek Limited, Blanchardstown, which has been repaid, at the latest date for which figures are available; if a timetable has been agreed for the repayment of the money; if any replacement industry has been found in view of the major loss of employment in the area resulting from the closure of Mostek; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): As the Deputy was previously informed on 11 February 1986, the recoupment of financial assistance given by the Industrial Development Authority in support of industrial projects is a matter for the authority.

I understand, however, that all capital grants paid to the company have been recouped by the Industrial Development Authority. Training grants amounting to £0.676 million, which are normally not refundable, have not been repaid.

No replacement industry has been found to date but the Industrial Development Authority are actively promoting the former Mostek premises as a location for a suitable alternative project.
