Vol. 368 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Galway School Extension.

268.

asked the Minister for Education if he will direct the release of all documents to enable tenders to proceed for the building of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Galway, if he will give the relevant details of the proposed extension; the cost; when he expects the building to commence; and if he will make a statement on this serious matter.

My Department has the arrangements in hand with a view to the invitation in tenders this month for the proposed extension to the school in question. The proposals involve the erection of three new classrooms, the conversion of part of the existing school to a general purposes room and the provision of a teachers' room, a library-medical room and other ancillary accommodation.

It is not the practice to divulge the financial details in relation to an individual project as this is a confidential matter between my Department and the school authorities. I am not in a position at this stage to say when building works may commence.
