Vol. 369 No. 3

Written Answers. - Spiddal (Galway) School.

204.

asked the Minister for Education if he will give details of the present position regarding the upgrading of Spiddal national school, County Galway; and if he will explain the undue delay in having the required works carried out.

My Department has agreed in principle to grant aid an extension to Spiddal national school, County Galway.

Sketch plans for the project, whereby overall three classrooms and a general purposes area will be provided, have been completed and my Department will be communicating with the chairman of the board of management at an early date with a view to settling the local contribution for the project as a necessary preliminary to the preparation of the contract documents. Pressure of work generally on the professional staff concerned was responsible for some delay in the preparation of the sketch plan in this case. I have asked that there be no undue delay in processing the further stages of this project.
