Vol. 369 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Payments.

48.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid unemployment benefit as she has been signing on for four weeks.

A person who has left his or her employment voluntarily without just cause may be disqualified for receiving unemployment benefit for a period of six weeks.

The person concerned claimed unemployment benefit from 6 October 1986. The reason she gave for leaving her employment is at variance with that given by her employer. Accordingly, inquiries must be made to clarify matters before her entitlement can be determined. These inquiries will be completed as soon as possible and her entitlement to unemployment benefit will then be determined in the light of the outcome.
