Vol. 369 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

81.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the nine months delay in the payment of a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; when payment will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named in respect of the address given. An application was, however, received from a person with the same name from a broadly similar address. There has been no undue delay in dealing with that case which was covered by the special dispensation from prior inspection announced last February. Following a final inspection, it was necessary to seek additional information from the applicant and this has recently been received. Arrangements are being made to pay the maximum grant of £2,000 within the next few weeks.

82.

A final inspection will be carried out within a few weeks.

84.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a £2,000 grant.

Where a house is built otherwise than by contract, the £2,000 grant is payable only where such a house was not substantially completed by 1 May 1985. In this case the Department's inspector certified that a £1,000 grant should be paid and payment was made accordingly on 11 September 1986. The applicant has been requested to submit evidence in support of his claim for the higher rate of grant and the case will be further considered on receipt of that information.

85.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will have an inspection carried out in respect of a house improvement grant as soon as possible for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The application was among those covered by the dispensation from prior inspection announced last February. Notification issued to the applicant authorising him to proceed with the work in respect of which his application was made subject to the conditions of the scheme (other than the prior inspection requirement) applicable when he applied for the grant. As requested, an inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks.

87.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will be carried out and payment of a new house grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Payment of the grant will be made when an inspection establishes that the house is complete and occupied and that all the other conditions of the scheme have been fulfilled. The inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks.

88.

An inspection was recently carried out but the House is not occupied. The applicant should notify my Department when the house is complete and occupied on a full time basis so that a further inspection can be arranged with a view to a payment of a grant.

93.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has only received £1,500 mortgage subsidy; and if he will make arrangements for the payment of the remaining £1,500 as soon as possible.

It is a condition of the mortgage subsidy scheme that any instalment cannot exceed the amount of the loan repayments made in the period to which the instalment relates. On this basis the combined amount of the first two instalments was £1,282, being the amount of his mortgage repayments for the two qualifying periods. He was paid the maximum amount of £1,500 in respect of the remaining four instalments and, accordingly, received total mortgage subsidy of £2,782, which was his full entitlement.

98.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in having an inspection carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny with a view to having approval for a house improvement grant issued where the application was made last June.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant under the current scheme from the person named. There is, however, such an application under the 1981 scheme but the approval of a grant has been deferred pending the submission of evidence of planning permission for the work as requested from the applicant on 30 August 1982.

99.
