Vol. 370 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

84.

asked the Minister for Finance when a refund of VAT and income tax paid will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes will not be in a position to determine if, or to what extent, the taxpayer is entitled to a refund of income tax until he receives certain outstanding information which was requested from the taxpayer's agents on 15 September 1986. The inspector will again communicate with the agents in the matter.

I am also advised that a repayment of value-added tax does not arise in this case. Any refund due has been set off in full against the taxpayer's declared value-added tax liabilities.

85.

asked the Minister for Finance if a tax rebate is due to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that there is no tax refund due in this case for 1985-86 or any earlier year. The taxpayer has already been advised accordingly.

Liability for 1986-87 will be reviewed after 5 April 1987, when the taxpayer submits her return of income and form P.60 (certificate of pay and tax deducted) for that year. A return of income form for completion by the taxpayer will be sent to her by the inspector and the form P.60 may be obtained from her employer.
