Vol. 370 No. 15

Written Answers. - Housing Finance.

66.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has given consideration to, or if there is any possible way in which low interest European loans or other similar funding can be arranged for housing purposes in this country.

Exchequer foreign borrowing is a matter for the Minister for Finance. As far as my Department are concerned, the Housing Finance Agency have been given authority to raise foreign currency loans and a number of such loans are now being raised. In addition, under a scheme administered by the National Building Agency, low interest housing loans from the European Coal and Steel Community are made available to coal and steel workers in this country.
