Vol. 372 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Discipline.

225.

asked the Minister for Education the amount of the funds from the in-service training allocation she is setting aside to provide seminars in autumn 1987 on the theme of relationship and discipline in primary schools; the in-service courses that will be abandoned or curtailed as a result; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It is estimated that the cost of organising seminars in the autumn for principals of national schools on the theme "School Discipline" will be of the order of £25,000.

It is not anticipated that any other planned courses will need to be abandoned or curtailed as a result. Part of the allocation in this subhead was used in 1986 to organise seminars in connection with the pilot projects on the use of computers and on the teaching of science in primary schools and will not be required this year as these projects have been completed.
