Vol. 372 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

47.

asked the Minister for Finance when an income tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the Inspector of Taxes has not yet received from the taxpayer's agents all the information required to enable the taxpayer's claim for a refund of tax to be processed. In this connection I would refer the Deputy to the opening paragraph of the reply given to the question put down by him for 20 November, 1986 as reported at column 177 of the Official Report. The inspector has again recently communicated with the taxpayer's agents in the matter.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; the steps which have been taken to secure a return of payments made by him during his employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer called to the tax office on 24 April, 1987 and indicated that his employment had been terminated on 20 March 1987, but that his employer had not given him a form P.45 (cessation certificate). The Inspector of Taxes is in communication with the employer in the matter and, as soon as the required certificate becomes available, the taxpayer will be invited by the inspector to make a claim for a refund of tax.
