Vol. 372 No. 7

Written Answers. - Trustee Savings Banks.

37.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he accepts the need for up-to-date legislation dealing with Trustee Savings Banks; the proposals, if any, he has in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While the existing legislation has served the Trustee Savings Banks well for a great number of years, I accept the need to update it so as to facilitate the further development of these banks. Proposals for updating legislation are at an advanced stage of preparation. These proposals will be finalised, and the draft legislation introduced, as quickly as possible.
