Vol. 373 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drogheda Quays Restoration.

14.

asked the Minister for the Marine if the discussion between the Drogheda Harbour Commissioners and his Department in relation to Welshman's and Ballast Quay, Drogheda have been completed; if a decision has been made in relation to the selection of options as submitted by the consultants report; when it is expected that the project will go for tender; when it is expected that work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A technical and financial appraisal of the project for quay restoration works at Welshman's and Ballast Quays, Drogheda harbour, has been undertaken by my Department in the light of the report prepared by the consulting engineers to the harbour commissioners. I expect to be in a position, in the very near future, to make a decision in regard to the work to be undertaken at these quays. The financing arrangements for any works to be undertaken will then have to be considered in the light of available resources. In the meantime it is not possible to say when the project will go for tender or when work will commence.
