Vol. 373 No. 8

Written Answers. - Jobsearch Programme.

213.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of people called to Jobsearch interviews by the National Manpower Service to date; the number of people reported to the Department of Social Welfare as unavailable for work; the number of interviews; the number of people attending interviews who have been placed on employment schemes or training programmes; the number of people attending interviews who have been placed by the National Manpower Service in other types of employment.

The Jobsearch programme commenced operation, on a limited basis, on 6 April 1987 and became fully operational on 4 May 1987.

Up to 5 June 1987 a total of 26,257 persons had been interviewed by the National Manpower Service, of whom 14,476 had been referred for interview by the Department of Social Welfare and 11,781 had attended voluntarily.

Of those interviewed 1,794 have been placed on either employment schemes or training programmes while 363 have been placed in jobs. A further 1,538 persons have been placed on special Jobsearch training courses run by AnCO.

The names of 3,053 people who either failed to attend for interview, refused a reasonable offer of an employment or training opportunity or were unreasonably unco-operative on Manpower programmes or Jobsearch courses have been supplied to the Department of Social Welfare.
