asked the Minister for Education if she will list for the most recent years available the purely administrative costs including the costs of office premises of each of the 38 vocational education committee's excluding the costs of building and maintaining schools and payment of salaries; if she will give, along with these administrative costs, the number of post-primary schools managed by each scheme and the number of pupils concerned; the number of other post-primary schools and the number of pupils concerned, within the vocational education committee areas; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The detailed information regarding administrative costs in the form requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. The compilation of such information would take an inordinate amount of official time. However, the total of approved funds allocated under the administration heading by my Department to vocational education committees in 1986 was £11,151,063. The breakdown of this amount to each vocational education committee is set out in the form of a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report. The other information requested by the Deputy is available in the booklet "List of Post-Primary Schools" which is published annually by the Stationery Office.
