asked the Minister for Education if she will establish a consultative council under section 104 of the Vocational Educational Act (1930) in order to consider the position of regional technical colleges and the position regarding the funding of education programmes in Irish schools by the EC; if so, if she will extend the scope of her consultations whether within or outside the formal consultative council to all of the representatives bodies involved in second and third level education; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Consultations between my Department and relevant interests in relation to training programmes part funded by the European Economic Community from the European Social Fund and taking place in regional technical colleges and in Irish schools take place as requested. It is not my intention to establish formal structures as envisaged by the Deputy for this purpose.
