Vol. 373 No. 8

Written Answers. - RTC for Thurles.

255.

asked the Minister for Education when the legalities involved in the purchase of a site for a regional technical college at Thurles, County Tipperary, will be completed; when the schedule of accommodation will be issued for the college; if capital funding will be made available in 1988 for architectural planning of the college; and when she envisages the college being opened.

The legal formalities for the acquisition of a site for a regional technical college at Thurles, County Tipperary, are expected to be completed this year.

The question of issuing a schedule of accommodation for the college will not arise until it becomes possible to provide funding for architectural planning. Because of the very difficult situation in relation to the availability of capital resources, it is not possible to give a commitment as to the funding for 1988 or to say when the college is likely to be opened.
