Vol. 373 No. 9

Written Answers. - School Management.

173.

asked the Minister for Education if the instrument of management, that is, a sub-committee of the vocational educational committee is the same instrument of management in the case of a small vocational school and third level regional technical college; if all decisions including staff promotions and appointments made by the board of management of a regional technical college have to be approved by the vocational education committee; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The regional technical colleges and vocational schools are managed by boards of management which are sub-committees of the Vocational Education Committees under section 21 of the Vocational Education Act, 1930. The acts of every sub-committee of a Vocational Education Committee including staff promotions and appointments are subject to confirmation by such committee save where such committee with the sanction of the Minister dispenses with the necessity for such confirmation.
