An application for assistance from the European Regional Development Fund for the construction of Connacht Regional Airport, as it was then known, was submitted to the Commission of the European Communities in 1982. The application was not approved by the Commission at that time. However, I intend to pursue the question of obtaining funds for the airport with the Commission.
