Vol. 373 No. 13

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Statutory Instruments.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if he will list, including titles, the Statutory Instruments which the Attorney General, under the powers given to him by the Statutory Instrument Act, 1947, has decided shall not be published as Statutory Instruments; the reasons in each case he has so decided; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In accordance with the provisions of the Statutory Instruments Act, 1947, directions by the Attorney General, exempting statutory instruments from the requirement to publish, are published in Iris Oifigiúil, including the reasons in each case.

Details of the directions given by the Attorney General since the Statutory Instruments Act, 1947, came into operation in 1948 are contained in the five indices to the Statutory Instruments which cover the period from 1 January 1948 to 31 December 1979. I am arranging to have a list of those given during the period from 1 January 1980 to date sent to the Deputy separately.

May I ask the Taoiseach if there is under consideration any proposal to make changes to the criteria in accordance with which publication or otherwise is decided upon?

No, but if the Deputy would like to put forward any suggestions I would be glad to have them.
