Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Foras Forbartha Accommodation.

182.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline regarding An Foras Forbartha (a) the amount of square footage which it is currently renting in St. Martin's House, Waterloo Road, Dublin 4 (b) the year when it became a tenant of that office building (c) the duration of the lease (d) the frequency of the rent reviews (e) the current rent which it is paying either directly or indirectly through the Office of Public Works to the owners of the building and (f) the liability which will remain for the continued payment of such rent following the vacation of the building with the abolition of An Foras Forbartha; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The area occupied by An Foras Forbartha in St. Martin's House, Waterloo Road, Dublin, is 24,900 sq. ft. The tenancy commenced in 1969 and is on a 27 year lease with nine-yearly reviews.

It is not the practice to disclose the amount of commercial rents payable in respect of individual properties and, for sound commercial reasons, it would not be in the public interest to do so.

The liability, if any, which would remain for the continued payment of rent would be a matter for negotiation between An Foras and their landlord.
