Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Córas Tráchtála Aid.

31.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the status of the Minister of State's proposal that applicants for aid for Córas Tráchtála must produce a strategic marketing plan to obtain aid; the way in which this differs from the marketing plan which Córas Tráchtála have already been seeking from all applicants; and if he will make a statement regarding the new strategic element now involved.

Measures aimed at ensuring greater emphasis on strategic marketing planning by applicants for assistance from CTT are being addressed in the context of the development of the national plan for marketing referred to in the Government's Programme for National Recovery. At the moment, with the exception of one particular scheme, it is not CTT's practice to insist on detailed strategic plans from companies seeking grant assistance. Companies are, however, required to identify in advance the purpose for which a grant is sought and on completion of the activity involved, to give details of the results achieved. The average CTT grant in 1986 amounted to £2,500.
