Vol. 374 No. 2

Written Answers. - Islandbridge (Dublin) School Transport.

75.

asked the Minister for Education if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 will be included in the school transport scheme to Stewart's School instead of Saint John of God's, Islandbridge, when the difference in distance from his home is negligible and he has close family contacts already with Stewart's School; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Children who are assessed as being handicapped qualify for free transport to their nearest suitable school. If on reassessment the child in question is found to be moderately mentally handicapped, transport will be provided for him to Saint John of God's school, Island-bridge, his nearest school.

Nothing is known of the close family contacts mentioned by the Deputy.
