Vol. 374 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Cork Roads Reclassification.

67.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider the reclassification of the present national secondary route in South-West Cork from national secondary to national primary status; if he will upgrade the status of the following roads to national secondary classification (a) the main road from Parkanna Cross, Bantry to Bandon, County Cork (b) the main road from Ballydehob-Toormore-Durrus to Bantry, County Cork and (c) the main road from Glengarriff to Castletownbere; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The present classification of roads, which was determined following a lengthy process of consultation with local authorities, is now generally regarded as established. I do not envisage a reclassification of any further roads in present circumstances.
