asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the basis under which doctors in the General Medical Service are paid; the proposals, if any, there are to change this; and if so, the way in which this will be done.

The following is the scale of fees payable to general practitioners in the General Medical Service.

At a meeting with the Irish Medical Organisation on 7 October last I put forward certain proposals which I consider could form the basis of a new agreement. As these discussions are on-going the Deputy will appreciate that it would be inappropriate, at this stage, to go into the detail of the matter.
