Vol. 374 No. 9

Written Answers. - Remedial Teacher Appointment.

37.

asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction the appointment of a remedial teacher for St. Daigh's national school, Inniskeen and St. Patrick's national school, Broomfield, County Monaghan, as an assessment carried out in these schools shows that there is an urgent need for such a teacher; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Applications for remedial posts are processed in the Department and available remedial posts are allocated in accordance with a priority of need. The application referred to by the Deputy was not placed sufficiently high in order of priority of educational need to warrant the allocation of a post. The application will be further considered together with the other applications on hand in the light of the availability of such posts in the future.
