Vol. 374 No. 9

Written Answers. - Kilcock (Kildare) School Proposal.

44.

asked the Minister for Education the current proposals, if any, there are for the provision of the coeducational post primary school in Kilcock, County Kildare; if she will alter the time schedule or the plans for the provision of same; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

194.

asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, there are regarding the provision of the proposed co-educational post-primary school at Kilcock, County Kildare; the proposals, if any, there are to advance the project in 1988; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 44 and 194 together. This project which has a total estimated cost of £1.9 million is at working drawings stage.

The restriction on the relevant capital allocation, which the Government considers necessary under its Programme for National Recovery, precludes expenditure on any new building starts, apart from minor and emergency capital works, for the remainder of 1987 or of 1988. Neither, for the same reason, is it possible to give any indication as to the rate of progress in architectural planning that can be achieved in respect of this project during 1988.
