Written Answers - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position on the application for a house improvement grant of a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; if this grant has gone for payment; and the amount of the grant being paid.

A grant of £5,600 will be paid as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the application for a house improvement grant of a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; if this grant has gone for payment; and the amount of the grant being paid.

A grant of £4,126 will be paid as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the first instalment of a mortgage subsidy for persons (details supplied) in County Laois has yet gone for payment; and when same will be paid.

The first and second instalments of the mortgage subsidy will be paid as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position on the application for an additional £1,000 new house grant for persons (details supplied) in County Offaly; and when a decision will be given on this application.

On the strength of additional information recently provided by the applicant the higher rate of grant (£2,000) has now been approved. Payment of the extra £1,000 will be made as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment if persons (details supplied) in county Laois are entitled to a new house grant; and if not, the reason.

A grant cannot be allowed as, contrary to a condition of the scheme, a registered contractor was not involved in the construction of the house. The applicant has been so informed.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position on the new house grant application of a person (details supplied) in County Laois; and when a decision will be given on this application.

A £2,250 builders' grant cannot be allowed as the contract for the construction of the house had been entered into before 1 October 1986. The applicant has been so informed.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who submitted his application for payment in October 1987.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy has been paid.

157.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

A grant for the provision of bathroom facilities will be paid as soon as possible. As the applicant has been paid a £5,000 "surrender" grant in respect of the purchase of the house, he is debarred from obtaining grants for the other works carried out.
