Vol. 378 No. 3

Written Answers. - Farranfore, Kerry, Airport.

58.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he will sanction a special grant for improvement work for Farranfore Airport, County Kerry.

In January, 1987, the Kerry County Airport Company submitted proposals to my Department for the further development of Farranfore Airport, County Kerry. On examination of these proposals a further grant of £15,000 was made available towards the cost of fire fighting equipment and civil works to protect the airport from river erosion. This grant brought total Exchequer funding for the airport project to £270,263 consisting of grants of £194,979 from my Department's Vote and a grant of £75,284 from the Western Development Fund administered by the Department of Finance. This level of assistance has been generous, especially in the prevailing budgetary circumstances. I regret that it would not be possible for me to accede to the request for a further grant for the airport.
