Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - Extradition Warrants from UK

85.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he proposes to make an order under section 3 of the Extradition Amendment Act, 1987, applying the rule of speciality contained in section 20 of the Extradition Act, 1965, to extradition warrants coming from the United Kingdom.

Issues arising from the Extradition (Amendment) Act, 1987, are the subject of discussions at official level with the British authorities at present.

In the meantime, administrative arrangements which are already in place to ensure that the specialty principle is observed in our extradition arrangements with Britain and the North will continue to apply.
