20.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will confirm that two Royal Navy vessels of the Peacock class have been inspected in Hong Kong; if it is proposed to acquire these vessels; and if so, when.

(Limerick West): I propose to answer Questions Nos. 9 and 20 together.

Two Peacock class patrol craft operated by the Royal Navy in Hong Kong have been inspected by a team from my Department.

It is understood that they will become available within the next three months and their acquisition for fishery surveillance is being considered.

Will the Minister state the overall cost?
