One private consultant has been engaged by my Department, since 10 March 1987, to carry out design and planning work related to the national communications network being provided for the Garda Síochána. He was appointed with effect from 29 July 1987, on a full-time basis for a period of one year, at a fee of £24,000. To date a total of £18,000 has been paid to him in fees. It is in respect of the period from 29 July 1987 to 10 April 1988.
