I propose to take Questions Nos. 170, 171 and 174 together.

On 23 February 1988 the Minister of State for Youth Affairs launched two working groups in the youth sector, one on the public image of youth works in Ireland and the other on the development of a common basic training programme for youth leaders. The working group on improving the public image of youth in Ireland was given the following mandate: to heighten and improve the image of youth work in the media and to initiate and monitor a series of activities to this end in co-operation with the Youth Affairs Section of the Department of Education. The working group is made up of the public relations officers of voluntary youth organisations and is chaired by the General Secretary of the National Youth Federation. One of the initiatives agreed on by the working group was the setting up of a youth services stand at the Spring Show and the launching of a series of radio advertisements to publicise the stand. This was an independent initiative by the working group. The Minister of State was then invited by the working group to participate in the initiative involving the production of a video, a magazine and the advertisements.

The Minister of State featured in a total of 40 RTE radio advertisements, each of 15 seconds duration, during the recent RDS Spring Show at a total cost of £4,286.25.
