Vol. 380 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dunboyne (Meath) School.

172.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed second level school in Dunboyne, County Meath; the date on which contacts with the diocesan authorities were initiated with a view to the purchase of the site for the school; the steps taken by her Department since then in the matter; and if the purchase of the site will be complete before the end of 1988.

The provision of a new post-primary school in Dunboyne has already been approved in principle. In accordance with normal procedure, the potential growth in pupil numbers in the Dunboyne area is being kept under regular review in the context of the provision of a new post-primary school. With regard to the purchase of the school site, it is the practice of my Department that the negotiations involved in such transactions are kept confidential. The Deputy will appreciate, therefore, that it is not appropriate to furnish particulars of the case mentioned by him.
