asked the Minister for Energy if his attention has been drawn to a practice in the Forest and Wildlife Service known as contract harvesting; and the way in which this scheme operates.

Contract harvesting has been a feature of normal forestry operations for many years. Essentially it involves the placing of contracts, on the basis of tenders submitted, with suitable contractors to harvest timber.
